MARTHA DELL nee CHAMBERLAINE 1826 - 1854

Martha’s birth record has not been found but she was born around 1826.

In 1841, aged 15, she was living with her parents Stephen,45, & Jemima, 40, Chamberlin. She had a twin sister Sarah. Her other siblings were Caroline, 13; Charles, 10; James, 7; William, 5; Maryann, 3 & Eliza, 1.

The family lived in Bussock Rd., Chieveley. The town recorded on the census was Snelsmore & this fits with her daughter, Ellen, being born there in 1848.

She married Henry Dell (12064) in Q2 1845 Newbury 6 313.

In 1851 they were living at Northbrook St & Chapel Yard, Newbury. They had 3 children: George, 5; Ellen, 3; & Elizabeth, 1.

A son, Henry, was born in 1854 but sadly died in 1855.    Ref: 8171.

Daughter, Ellen, died in 1856, aged 8.    Ref: 8294

Martha died, aged 33, on 8 January 1858 (Q1 Newbury 2c 155) after 3 years of Consumption & 6 months of Anasarca or Edema.

Henry was present at her death in Jack of Newbury St.

She was buried at NRC on 13 January 1858 in consecrated ground.
