Walter Charles Amor

1883-1903

Walter Charles was born 25^th August 1883, in Aldershot, Hampshire the son of James and Elizabeth Stone Amor (nee Jeffery) who were married on the 22^nd February 1876 in Burton Somerset. Walter was baptised (with his brother Arthur) on the 7^th October 1883, at St Laurence, Seale, Surrey.

His father James was baptised on the 6^th June 1852, in Pitcombe, Somerset, the son of William and Charlotte Amor (nee Williams), who were married on the 4^th May 1843, in North Cheriton, Somerset.

His mother Elizabeth Stone was baptised on the 14^th August, 1850, in Chetnole, Dorset, the daughter of John Highmore and Sarah Stone Jeffery (nee Hounsell), who were married on the 27^th December 1842, in Melbury Bubb and Woolcombe, Dorset.

Walter’s siblings were:

Edwin William, 1877 in Cole, Somerset, baptised 25^th December 1877, in Wyke Champflower, Somerset (Edwin died aged 27 in 1905, he was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16^th Janaury).

John James, born 1878 in Cole Somerset, baptised 26^th October 1878, in Wyke Champflower, Somerset

Arthur, born 22^nd January 1881, in Bristol, he was baptised 7^th October 1883, at St Laurence, Seale, Surrey. (With his brother Walter Charles)

Sarah Susan Rosina (aka Rosina), born 1885 in Kingsley, Hampshire.

William Jeffery, born 1890, in Parkstone, Dorset

The 1881 census records James (28), a Farmer of 18 acres, Elizabeth (31), Edwin (3), James (2) and Arthur (1 month), living at Hill House Farm, Dundry, Somerset.

The 1891 census records James as William J. (39), a Grocer, Elizabeth (41), Edwin (13), James (11), Arthur (10), Walter (8), Rosina (6) and William (1), living in Ashley Road, Kinson, Dorset.

In 1901 James (48), a Stockman on Farm, Elizabeth (51), Walter (17), Rosina (15), a Draper’s Assistant and William (11) were living at Warren Fram, The Wash, Newbury, Berkshire.

Walter died aged 20 in 1903. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17^th November.

His father James died aged 54 in 1906. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31^st December.

His mother Elizabeth died aged 57 on the 28^th January 1908, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1^st February.
