James Amor

James, his parents, siblings and early life:
James was baptised on the 6th June 1852, in Pitcombe, Somerset, the son of William and Charlotte Amor (nee Williams), who were married on the 4th May 1843, in North Cheriton, Somerset.
His father William was born on the 14th May 1812, the illegitimate son of Susanna Cock, he was baptised on the 22nd June 1812, in Lamyatt, Somerset, the son of James and Susannah Amor (nee Cock) who were married on the 31st August 1815 in Lamyatt. James was a widower when he married Susanna. (As William was baptised in 1812, before James and Susanna married, presumably he was the biological son of James Amor). William died aged 64, on the 8th March 1877, in Wyke Champflower, Somerset.
His mother Charlotte was baptised on the 6th October 1822 in Lamyatt, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Williams (nee Dredge) who were married on the 19th December 1808 in Lamyatt, Somerset (Mary was from the parish of Ditcheat, Somerset). Charlotte died aged 87, in 1909, in Burton, Somerset.
William and Charlotte also had the following children:
William, baptised 17th July 1844 (died aged 6 months, buried 6th August in Lamyatt)
Elizabeth, baptised 12th August 1846
Susanna, baptised 19th May 1845
William, baptised 13th May 1850
In 1851 William (37), a small Farmer, Charlotte (31), their children, Susanna (5), Elizabeth (4), William (11 months), Mary Biss (20) a House Servant and a visitor, Lavinia White (11), were recorded living in Pitcombe, Somerset.
The 1861 census records William (48), (now a Farmer of 60 acres) Charlotte (42), Susanna (15), Elizabeth (14), William (10) and James (8), living in Gents Mill, Pitcombe.
By 1871 William (58), a Farmer of 120 acres, Charlotte (49), Elizabeth (23), William (20), James (18), Susanna Griffin (25) (nee Amor) and her husband Richard Griffin (30), were living in Wyke Champflower, Burton, Somerset.

(Elizabeth Stone was baptised on the 14th August, 1850, in Chetnole, Dorset, the daughter of John Highmore and Sarah Stone Jeffery (nee Hounsell), who were married on the 27th December 1842, in Melbury Bubb and Woolcombe, Dorset).
James and Elizabeth had the following children:
Edwin William, 1877 in Cole, Somerset, baptised 25th December 1877, in Wyke Champflower, Somerset (Edwin died aged 27 in 1905, he was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th Janaury).
John James, born 1878 in Cole Somerset, baptised 26th October 1878, in Wyke Champflower, Somerset
Arthur, born 22nd January 1881, in Bristol, baptised 7th October 1883, at St Laurence, Seale, Surrey

The 1881 census records James (28), a Farmer of 18 acres, Elizabeth (31), Edwin (3), James (2) and Arthur (1 month), living at Hill House Farm, Dundry, Somerset.
The 1891 census records James as William J. (39), a Grocer, Elizabeth (41), Edwin (13), James (11), Arthur (10), Walter (8), Rosina (6) and William (1), living in Ashley Road, Kinson, Dorset.
In 1901 James (48), a Stockman on Farm, Elizabeth (51), Walter (17), Rosina (15), a Draper’s Assistant and William (11) were living at Warren Fram, The Wash, Newbury, Berkshire.
James died aged 54 in 1906. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31st December.
Elizabeth died aged 57 on the 28th January 1908, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st February.
