Charlotte Adams was born in Leckhampstead, Berkshire, she was baptised in 1826 in Leckhampstead, the daughter of Joseph (a Blacksmith) and Mary Adams (nee Head) who were married on the 2nd November 1807 in Chieveley, Berkshire.

Charlotte married Joseph French in c1857 (marriage registered in the March quarter, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire)

The 1861 census records Charlotte (34) living in Spa Buildings, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, with Joseph (44), a Lodging House Keeper.
By 1871 Joseph (54) and Charlotte (44) were living in Thorpe Street, Thorpe, Essex. Joseph was recorded as a Baptist Minister.
The 1881 census records Joseph (64) as the Baptist Minister of Langley Chapel, living in the Chapel House, Langley, Essex, with Charlotte (54).
Charlotte was widowed in 1886, Joseph died aged 70 on the 23rd December 1886 in Essex.
By 1887 Charlotte had moved back to Leckhampstead.
The 1891 census records Charlotte (64) living on her own means, as a visitor at the High Street, Lambourn, Berkshire, the home of Emma (47) and Louis Legg (43) a Police Sergeant and their family.
The 1901 census records her aged 74, living on her own means, in Oxford Street, Speenhamland, Berkshire.
Charlotte died aged 79 on the 10th February 1906, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th February.
