Mary Ann, her parents and siblings:

Mary Ann Fry was baptised on the 14th November 1779, in Shaw cum Donnington, Berkshire, the daughter of Philip and Ruth Fry (nee Leake) who were married on the 4th March 1776 at St George, Hanover Square, Middlesex. (Witnesses: Caleb Greville and Wiliam Shaw)

Her father Philip was born c1734, he died aged 70 in 1804 and was buried on the 2nd August, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

Her mother Ruth Leek was baptised on the 21st July 1754, in Chieveley the daughter of George and Mary Leeke. Ruth died in 1827 and was buried on the 19th May, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

Philip and Ruth also had the following children:

Philip, baptised 14th May 1776, in Chieveley, Berkshire

Lucy, baptised 10th May 1778, in Shaw cum Donnington

Fanny, baptised 23rd September 1781, in Shaw cum Donnington

Mary Ann in later life:

Mary Ann married William Buckmaster on the 27th June 1803, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, Berkshire.

(William was baptised on the 18th March 1782, at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the son of Thomas and Sarah Buckmaster (nee Vincent) who were married on the 21st December 1777, in Fulham, Middlesex)

William and Mary Ann had at least one child, Fanny, born c1804, in Berkshire.

The 1815 census of Newbury records Mary (33) living in Gibbs Yard on the east side of Bartholomew Street, Newbury, with her mother Ruth Fry (56) and her daughter Fanny (11).

Fanny married William Harris on the 26th October 1823, at St Nicolas Newbury.

The 1841 census records Mary (55) as a Miliner. Living in Bartholomew Street, Newbury, with her married daughter Fanny, her son-in-law, William Harris, a Paper Maker and her grandchildren William (bapt. 28/1/1824), Alfred (bapt.11/4/1830), Harriet (bapt. 30/3/1828), Sarah (bapt.25/12/1832), Eliza Ann (bapt. 2/1/1836) and Edward (bapt. 31/12/1837).

Fanny died aged 42 in 1846, she was buried on the 24th October, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

The 1851 census records again records Mary (72) living in Bartholomew Street, Newbury, this census records her as a Dressmaker. Her son-in-law William Harris (49) and her grandchildren, William, Fanny (bapt. 9/4/1826), Harriet, Alfred, Eliza Ann, Edward and Mary (bapt. 28/1/1844) were recorded living with her.

Mary Ann died aged 80 in 1859. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th December.
