Emma Watson (1859-1875)

Emma was born in Basingstoke in 1859, the daughter of Jeremiah Frederick Watson (1828-1910), a Millwright from Sheerness, Kent and Helen (Ellen) Mills (1830-1918).

Jeremiah was the son of William and Elizabeth and was baptised at the Minster in Sheppey, Kent on 27^th July, 1828. Helen, the daughter of John and Ann Mills was baptised on 10^th December, 1830 in Andover.  

Emma’s parents, Helen and Jeremiah married in Basingstoke St Michael on 7^th July, 1853. They had more children, their sons becoming Millwrights, a Policeman and Grocers. The family lived for many years in Wote Street, Basingstoke.

Emma died in Northbrook Street, Newbury from Scarlet fever and congestion of lungs.  Her mother was present.
