According to the 1851 census John was born in Newbury, Berkshire.

In 1841 John (55) was working as a Gardener’s Labourer, living in the City, Newbury, Berkshire. (Surname recorded as Purdin on ancestry)

The 1851 census records John (66) as an Agricultural Labourer, in the Newbury Workhouse.

John died aged 70 in 1854. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4^th July.
