Mary Ann Purdue

1854-1855

Mary Ann baptised 29^th October 1854 in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Edmund and Ann Purdue (nee Everest) who were married on the 12^th March 1845, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

Mary Ann died aged 1 in 1855. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26^th October.

Mary Ann’s family:

Her father Edmund was born on the 15^th March 1823, he was baptised on the 21^st May 1823 at St Nicolas, Newbury, the son of George (a Shoemaker) and Mary Purdue (nee Cook) who married on the 5^th February 1823 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

Her mother Ann Everest was born 29^th June 1812, in Surrey. She was baptised on the 18^th August 1812, at St Mary’s Church, Headley, Surrey, the daughter of William & Ann Everest (nee Relph) who married on the 27^th November 1810 in Kemsing, Kent.

Mary Ann’s siblings were:

David William Everest, born 1840 (Ann Everest’s illegitimate son)

Edmund, born 2^nd April 1845, baptised 29^th June 1845 (died aged 1 year 11 months, buried 16^th April 1847 at St Nicolas, Newbury)

William George, born 6^th September 1846, baptised 25^th October 1846

Henry, born 22^nd April 1850, baptised 26^th May 1850

Alfred, born 2^nd August 1852, baptised 31^st October 1852

In 1851 the family were living in Eyles Buildings.

In 1861 Edmund, Ann and their son Henry were recorded living with Edmund’s parents George & Mary Purdue at 8 Railway Terrace Newbury.

Ann died aged 50 in 1862 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Cemetery on the 26^th December.

Edmund remarried in 1864 in Kensington, his 2^nd wife was Eliza Chappell and they had the following children: George 1866, Thomas 1868, Arthur 1870, Elizabeth Mary 1873 and John 1875

Edmund died aged 77 in Newbury in 1900 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1^st November.
