Elizabeth Holley

Elizabeth was baptised on the 7th July 1782 in Heytesbury, Wiltshire, the daughter of Charles and Melior Fletcher (nee Sevile) who were married on the 8th August 1771, in Heytesbury. (Surname recorded as Flatcher at time of marriage)
Charles and Melior also had the following children baptised in Heytesbury:
Henry, baptised 7th June 1772
Sarah, baptised 6th November 1774
Charles, baptised 13th December 1778
Elizabeth married George Hunt Holley on the 1st February 1812 in Alverstoke, Hampshire.
They had the following children:
Harriet Hunt, baptised 19th December 1812 in Heytesbury
Mary Ann, baptised 15th November 1816, at St Nicolas, Newbury
William, baptised 25th October 1819, at St Nicolas, Newbury
George, (aka Charles) baptised 18th November 1822, at St Nicolas, Newbury
John, baptised 25th September 1825, at St Nicolas, Newbury
Their son George died aged 2years 6 months, in 1825. He was buried (as Charles) on 2nd May 1825, at St Nicolas, Newbury.
The 1841 census records George (55) as a Grocer’s Assistant, living in Northbrook Street, Newbury, with Elizabeth (60) and their children, Mary Ann (20) and John (15).
In 1851 George (69) was recorded as a Tallow Chandler, living in Jack of Newbury Yard, Newbury, with Elizabeth (71) and their daughter Mary Ann (33)
By 1852 Elizabeth’s husband George (70) was a Greenwich Pensioner. He died in 1865, aged 82, in Greenwich.
Elizabeth died aged 89 in 1867. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th February.
Elizabeth’s widowed daughter Harriet Stevens was laid to rest with Elizabeth on the 2nd June 1880. Her son-in-law George Purdue, (1st husband of her daughter Mary Ann), is buried in the grave next to them.
