Timothy Weedon
1771-1851
Timothy was born on the 22nd November 1771 in London, he was baptised on the 9th December 1771 at St Martin In-The-Fields, London, the son of John and Sibly Weedon.
Timothy married Ann Pizzie on the 5th October 1795 in Aldbourne, Wiltshire. (Timothy was from Newbury, witnesses, Rachel Weedon and Thomas Hedges)
(Ann was baptised on the 6th January 1773, in Aldbourne, Wiltshire, the daughter of Caleb and Mary Pizzie).
Timothy and Ann had the following children:
John, born 5th November 1797, baptised 19th December 1797, at Northcroft Lane Meeting House Newbury (Baptist)
Jane, baptised 19th October 1800 at St Nicolas Church Newbury (surname spelt Wheedon)
Edward, baptised 16th March 1803 at St Nicolas Church Newbury
The 1815 census of Newbury records Timothy (42) as a Salesman, living on the west side of Market Place, Newbury, with his wife Ann (40), their children, John (17), Jane (15), Edward (13), his mother-in-law Mary Pizzie (85) and two servants.
In 1823 Timothy was recorded as a Draper (recorded in the UK Articles of Clerkship filed on the 9th July 1823, relating to his son Edward)
Timothy was widowed on the 16th May 1826. Ann died aged 53, she was buried on the 22nd May, at St Nicolas Newbury.
Both the 1841 and 1851 census records record Timothy living in Bartholomew Street, Newbury. In 1841 he was recorded as Independent and in 1851 he was recorded as an Annuitant.
Timothy died aged 79 in 1851, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery in unconsecrated ground, in a brick grave, on the 13th August. (Timothy left a will, probate granted 28th August 1851)
The 1852 Slater’s Directory of Berkshire records Timothy Weedon, Esq., Bartholomew Street, as Gentry under the listing headed Nobility, Gentry and Clergy.
