Unnamed (stillborn) Cox
1851-1851
This stillborn child’s parents were Thomas and Mary Cox (nee Kimber) who were married on the 1st September 1838, at St Mary the Virgin, Speen, Berkshire.
The child’s family:
Thomas was a Baker. He was born c1814 in Newtown Hampshire, he was privately baptised on the 19th April 1814 and received into the church on the 26th June 1814 in Silchester, the son of Aaron (a Farmer) and Sarah Cox (nee Hill) who were married on the 14th April 1803, in Newtown, Hampshire (Aaron was from Silchester)
Mary Kimber was born c1813 in Speen, Berkshire, the daughter of William Kimber
Thomas and Mary also had the following children (baptised at St Nicolas Church, Newbury):
Sarah Elizabeth, born 2nd February 1839, baptised 31st March 1839
Mary, born 8th May 1840, baptised 31st May 1840 (died aged 20 in 1861 buried in the NRC on the 17th May)
Emily, born 31st March 1842, baptised 15th May 1842 (died aged 4 in 1846, buried 31st July, at St Nicolas Newbury) Clara, born 30th June 1844, baptised 29th September 1844
Aaron, born 1st February 1847, baptised 30th May 1847
Fanny, born 14th May 1849, baptised 24th August 1849
Thomas, born c1850, (no baptised found)
Henry Kimber, born 1st February 1853, baptised 25th September 1853 (mistakenly recorded as Ellen Kimber on baptism record)
Lydia, baptised 25th November 1855
In 1841 Thomas (25), Mary (25) and their daughters (Sarah (2) and Mary (1), were living in Northbrook Street, Newbury, Berkshire.
Thomas (34), Mary (33), Sarah (12), Mary (10), Clara (6), Aaron (4) and Fanny (2) were recorded living in Toovey’s Yard Newbury in 1851.
The 1861 census records Thomas (44), Mary (44), Mary (21), Thomas (11), Henry (7) and Lydia (6), living in Parr’s Yard, Newbury.
Thomas died aged 49 in 1863 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th May
Mary remarried in 1866 in Kensington her 2nd husband was William Toovey. William died aged 47 in 1871 he was buried on the 21st January at St Mary Greenham.
The 1871 census records Mary Toovey (54) as an Annuitant, living at 12 Alton Place Newbury. Her daughter Lydia Cox (16), a Milliner’s Apprentice, son Harry Cox (18), a Coach Maker’s Apprentice and her nephew George Kimber (20), a Herdsman, were also recorded living with her.
Mary Toovey died aged 67 on the 27th October 1880. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30th October
