Elizabeth Ann was born in Sutton Scotney, Hampshire. Her birth was registered in the June quarter 1850, in Whitchurch, Hampshire, as Elizabeth Ann Tuson, mother’s maiden name Turton. She was the illegitimate daughter of Harriet Jane Turton, who was baptised on the 11th April 1824 in Wonston, Hampshire, the daughter of William and Jane Turton.

The 1851 census records Elizabeth, aged 10 months and her mother Harriet (36), a Dressmaker, lodging in Factory Yard, Newbury, Berkshire, with a Joseph Tuson (26), a General Dealer. (Surname recorded as Teston on ancestry)

Elizabeth Ann died aged 1 in 1851, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 22nd October.

Elizabeth’s family:

Her mother Harriet married Joseph Tuson on the 22nd July 1854, at the Independent Chapel, Newbury Berkshire.

(Joseph was baptised on the 8th July 1827, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the son of John (a Weaver) and Elizabeth Tuson)

Joseph and Harriet Jane had the following children:

Joseph born c1852 in Andover

Alma born c1855 in Andover

John born 1857 in Andover

Charles 1860 in Andover

Elizabeth c1863 in Andover

Twins: Ann and Mary in 1865 in Andover (Ann died in 1865)

The 1861 census records Joseph (37) as a Licensed Hawker, living in London Street, Andover, Hampshire, with Harriet (37), Joseph (9), Alma (5), John (3) and Charles (7 months). (Surname recorded as Suson on ancestry)

Joseph died aged 44 in 1866, death registered in Andover.

The 1871 census records Harriet (46), a widow of a Hawker and her daughters Elizabeth (8) and Mary (5) in the Workhouse in Alton, Hampshire.

Harriet(t) died aged 52 in 1875, death registered in Andover.
