Newbury Grammar School Jan 1907 – Dec 1916.

1909 Jul – South House cricket team (with Plenty, Buckingham & Salway).

1910 Jul – South House cricket team with Plenty & Salway, caught by Evers).

1912 Jul – Sports Day - North House relay – they came 3rd. (Quarterman was in the South House team).
Came 7th in the Senior Fives tournament.

1912 Dec – 2nd XI cricket, bowler, “very effective on a wet wicket”.

1913 Jul – Sports Day – 3rd in putting the weight, 4th in the South House Flag Race team (with Quarterman), pulled in the North [sic – mistake?] House tug of war team (they lost in the final).

1913 Dec – 1st XI cricket (with Quarterman)

1st XV Rugby (with Quarterman and Salway) “heels well, pushes hard, not enough confidence”.

1914 Town House cricket team. Bowling average 0 for 19. (With Quarterman)

Shooting – 2nd in the Medal Competition with 53, top shot for the Scouts who beat the Sixth Form.


1915 Apr – Prefect

Debating Society – spoke on peace terms for the war (p.7)

1st XV Rugby “works like a Trojan in the scrum, a trier, very strong”.

1915 Jul – seconded thanks by Quarterman at Scientific Society on the Animal Adaptation lecture (see Quarterman)

Tennis – beaten in the second round of the Doubles

1916 Apr – 1st XV Rugby – forward, “heavy, vigorous, altogether invaluable to the team. Also kicked some valuable goals.

1917 Dec – obituary.

 

Died of pneumonia (a complication after measles) in Surrey.

Buried in Newtown Road cemetery, Newbury.
