Thomas was born on the 23rd January 1800, he was baptised on the 16th February 1800 at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Thomas and Norah/Leonora North (nee Nalder) who were married on the 11th August 1788, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

The 1815 census of Newbury records Thomas (15), living in Chubb’s Yard, on the west side of Bartholomew Street, Newbury, with his father Thomas (48), a Chair Maker, his mother Leonora ((48), his sister Sarah (21) and his brothers, John (19), Edward (13), William (12), James (9) and Charles (7).

Thomas married Hannah Dibley on the 15th January 1823, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

They had the following children baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury:
William, 14th December 1823

Eliza, 25th December 1824 (died aged 6 months, buried 19th August 1825 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Henry, 20th June 1826

Thomas, 16th November 1828

Charles, 15th May 1831 (died aged 2, buried 10th Oct 1832 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Sarah, 4th August 1833

Eliza, 25th December 1836 (did aged 1 year 6 months, buried 8th September 1837 at St Nicolas Newbury)

and

John, born 1838

Caroline, born 1840

Thomas was recorded as a Labourer in his early working life, the 1841-1881 census records record him as a Plasterer.

The 1841 census records Thomas (35), Anna (35) (Hannah), William (15), a Plasterer’s Labourer, Henry (14), Thomas (10), Sarah (5) and John (2), living in Old Newtown Road, Newbury.

Thomas (51), Hannah (53), William (27) a Plasterer, John (12) and Caroline (10) were again recorded living in Old Newtown Road, in 1851.

Hannah died aged 54 in 1852, she was buried on the 5th November 1852, in the Newtown Road Cemetery, Newbury, Berkshire.

Thomas remarried in 1853

(Maria was born on the 21st April 1810, she was baptised on the 13th May 1810 at St Mary, Greenham, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Martha Wiggins (nee Bowles) who were married on the 23rd August 1806, at St Mary, Greenham (James was a widower) Maria had an illegitimate son, George, born in 1829, in Greenham, she married Samuel Tidbury in 1834 and was widowed in 1835. She remarried in 1837, her 2nd husband was John White, John died in 1851).

The 1861 census records Thomas (61), living in the Independent Chapel Yard, Northbrook Street, Newbury, with Maria (55).

In 1871 Thomas (70) and Maria (61), were recorded living at 49 Northcroft Lane, Newbury.

The 1881 census records Thomas (81) and Maria (70), living at 8 New Church Almshouses, Newbury.

Maria died aged 74 on the 31st January 1885, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th February.

Thomas died aged 89 on the 13th May 1889, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th May.
