Elizabeth Lloyd

c1780 - 1851

According to the 1851 census Elizabeth Haines was born in Sydmonton, Hampshire. Possible baptism, not proved: 28^th January 1781 in Kingsclere, Hampshire, daughter of Thomas (a Labourer) and Sarah Haines.

Elizabeth had a daughter, Mary Haines, baptised on the 24^th January 1802, in Kingsclere, Hampshire.

She married Jonathan Lloyd on the 7^th November 1803, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, Berkshire (both were single)

(Jonathan was baptised on the 3^rd March 1780, at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the son of Thomas and Sarah Lloyd)

Jonathan and Elizabeth had the following children, baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury:

Thomas born 13^th August 1804, baptised 26^th August 1804

George born 14^th October 1807, baptised 27^th March 1808

Daniel born 11^th April 1810, baptised 25^th April 1810

Edward Charles born 3^rd October 1812, baptised 25^th October 1812

Harriet baptised on the 23^rd February 1815 (Dad recorded as a Miller)

Eliza baptised on the 29^th June 1817 (Dad recorded as a Miller)

Caroline Maria baptised on the 19^th November 1820 (Dad recorded as a Miller)

In 1815 Jonathan (40) was recorded as a Flour Dresser, living in the City, Newbury Berkshire, with Elizabeth (35), Mary (13), Thomas (11) George (9), Daniel (5), Edward (2) and Harriet (an infant).

In 1841 Jonathan (70) was recorded as a Labourer, living in the City, Newbury, with Elizabeth (65) and their son Edward (25), a Journeyman Blacksmith.

The 1851 census records Jonathan (80) as a Pauper, formerly a Miller, living in Brown’s Yard, Newbury with Elizabeth (71), their married daughter, Caroline Smith, (26) and their son-in-law Henry Smith (25).

Elizabeth died in 1851, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12^th September.  (GRO records aged at death as 76, BBI and NBI record her age at death as 65)

Jonathan died aged 88 in 1858, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7^th June.
