Maria King

c1786-1851

Maria was baptised on the 21^st May 1786, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth King (nee Robins) who were married on the 12^th December 1771 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

Her father Thomas was a Shoemaker. He was born c1750, he died aged 80 in 1830 and was buried on the 22^nd November at St Nicolas Newbury.

Her mother Elizabeth was also  born c1750, she died aged 75 in 1825 and was buried on the 16^th February at St Nicolas Newbury.

Maria’s siblings were (all baptised in Newbury):

Maria never married. She was recorded in the 1851 census, aged 63, as an Annuitant, visiting widower, Thomas Purver (52) a Cordwainer and his children Elizabeth (25) Hannah (22), Thomas (20) and Mary (13), at Toomer’s Yard, of Northbrook Street, Newbury.

Maria died 65 later that year, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3^rd December 1851.
