Harriet Castle was born in Berkshire. She married Tobias Hobbis on the 9th May 1815 in Kingston Bagpuize Berkshire.

Tobias Hobbs was baptised in 1792 in Hatford, Berkshire, the son of Tobias and Lucy Hobbs

Harriet and Tobias had the following children:

John Hobbis baptised in 1819 in Fyfield (died aged 6, buried in 1825 in Hatford)

Mary Hobbis baptised in 1821 in Kingston Bagpuize

Tryphena Hobbs baptised in 1823 in Stanford in the Vale

Ann Hobbs/Hobbes baptised in 1826 in Stanford in the Vale

Elizabeth Hobbs baptised 1828 in Welford

Sarah Hobbs/Hobbis baptised in 1830 in Welford/Wickham and Hoe Benham

Emma Hobbs/Hobbis baptised in 1832 in Welford/Wickham and Hoe Benham

In 1841 the Thomas Hobbs (50), a Dealer, Harriet (45), and their daughters Elizabeth (13), Sarah (11) and Emma (9), were recorded living in Northbrook Street, Newbury.

On the 5th April 1847 Tobias Hobbis (54) found himself in trouble with the law, he was convicted of Larceny (two convictions) at the Berkshire County Sessions and was sentenced to 6 months and 3 months imprisonment.

The 1851 census records Tobias Hobbs (59) as a Labourer and Harriet (55) as a Laundress, living in Northcroft Lane Newbury

Harriet died aged 56 in 1851 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th December (surname recorded as Hobbis on NBI, Freebmd and GRO and Hobbes on NRC)

In the 1861 census Tobias (70) was recorded in the Union Workhouse Newbury as T Hobbs, he died later that year and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 24th June 1861 as Tobias Hobbs.
