According to the 1851 census Elizabeth was born in Hertford, Hertfordshire. (Possible baptism: 14th March 1773, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, Elizabeth Rumney, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth)

(Possible marriage: Joseph Cheesman and Elizabeth Rumley, 6th February 1803, St George, Bloomsbury)

In 1815 Elizabeth Cheeseman (47) was living on the west side of Back Lane, Newbury, Berkshire, with her husband Joseph (50), a Carpenter and their children, Joseph (12), Mary Ann (10), Sophia (8), Hannah (5), Sarah (3) and Edward (1).

Their son Joseph Cheesman died aged 13 in 1817, he was buried on the 19th February at St Nicolas, Newbury

Their daughter Sophia Cheesman died aged 15 in 1823, she was buried on the 19th July, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

Joseph Cheesman died aged 78 in 1848, he was buried on the 21st August, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

The 1851 census records Elizabeth Cheesman (77) as a Needlewoman, living in Dredges Yard, Bartholomew Street, Newbury, with her daughter Sarah (39), a Domestic Nurse. Elizabeth was recorded as being deaf in this census.

Elizabeth Cheeseman died aged 77 in 1851, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th May.
