Eva was born in Enborne in 1853, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Collins.

1861 census finds her living at Enborne Street, Enborne with parents, a brother and sister and cousin Sarah Wheeler.

In 1871 Eva (17) was living in Donnington Square as a servant to James Henry and Sarah Lucas, their son Charles Lucas (23) also appears on the census as a solicitor.

1881 census – no record found, but in March 1884 Evan married Arthur James Chivers in Kensington.

1891 also no record found

Arthur James Chivers died in 1897

1901 census shows Eva living at 63 Cheap Street, a widow described as a builder and contractor, living with her daughter Eva aged 16 and a niece Ellen Collins aged 15

1911 census sees Arthur James Chivers (son) living at 63 Cheap Street as assisting in the builder’s business which was owned by his mother, Eva.
