Louisa Willow

Louisa Annetts was born in Greenham, Berkshire, the daughter of Charles and Martha. Louisa was later known as Louisa Hemmings.

Louisa’s father Charles Emmans was born c1855 in Chaddleworth, Berkshire, the illegitimate son of Ann Emmans. His mother Ann married Benjamin Annetts in 1856 (marriage registered in Newbury). Charles was later known as both Charles Annetts and Charles Hemmings

The surname Emmans has been mistakenly transcribed as Hemmings (various spellings) in later records.

Louisa’s mother Martha was baptised on the 14^th November 1854 in Ecchinswell, Hampshire, the daughter of Edward (a Labourer) and Elizabeth Whale (nee Hunt) who were married on the 2^nd July1847, in the Chapel of Ecchinswell, Hampshire.

The 1881 census records Louisa Emmins (5) living in Brocks Green, Ecchinswell, Hampshire with her father Charles (26), an Agricultural Labourer, her mother Martha (25) and her brother George (2).

In 1891 Louisa Hemmings (17) was working as a Laundress, living at 2, Greenham Cottages, Greenham, Berkshire, with her parents Charles (30), a General Labourer, and Martha (39), her brothers George (12), Edward (9), Harry (3) and her sister Kate (5).

Louisa Hemmings married Edward Burt Willow on the 13^th February 1897 at the Parish Church of St Michael the Archangel, Aldershot, Hampshire, both were aged 22 and single. Edward was recorded as a Fence Fixer.

Louisa died aged 23 in 1898, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4^th June.
