Anne Osgood
1879-1884
Ann and her twin sister Ellen were born in Newbury, Berkshire, they were baptised on the 20th August 1879, at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the daughters of Hannah Osgood, a single woman.
Their mother Hannah MacGraw Osgood was born in 1856 in Newbury, the daughter of Charles Anslo and Hannah Osgood (nee MacGraw) who were married on the 6th November 1848 at St Laurence, Reading, Berkshire.
The 1881 census records Ann and Ellen aged 1, living at 2, Comptons Buildings, Newbury with their grandfather Charles (64), an Auctioneer’s Porter, their grandmother Hannah (49) and their aunt Janet (8) (Ann and Ellen were recorded as Charles and Hannah’s daughters)
Ellen died aged 23 months in 1881, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th June.
Anne died aged 4 on the 15th February 1884, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19th February. (Burial register records Anne as Annnie)
In 1881 their mother Hannah (22) was working as a Cook, at 1 Powlett Villas, Kingston on Thames, Surrey for Charles T Darnell (31), the Curate of Kingston Vale and his family.
