Anne Osborne

Ann was baptised in 1800 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Stillman (nee Grubb) who were married on the 4th June 1799 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
Ann’s father James was born c1774 in Berkshire. He died aged 75 in 1848, he was buried on the 7th January at St Nicolas Newbury.
Her mother Elizabeth (aka Betsey) was baptised on the 1st April 1778 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the daughter of Thomas (c1745-1819) and Martha (c1754-1820) Grubb (nee Gray) who were married on the 14th August 1782 at St Nicolas Church Newbury. Elizabeth died aged 64 in 1842, she was buried on the 7th September at St Nicolas Newbury (as Betsey)

On the 26th May 1815 Ann (15) was recorded at the Royal Oak, on the west side of Northbrook Street, Newbury, with her grandparents Thomas Grubb (66) (possibly the Inn Keeper) and Martha Grubb (60), Elizabeth Grubb (10), a Sergeant Miles, his wife Mary Miles aged (34), their son Nicholas Miles aged (9) and 1 soldier billeted.
On the 3rd June 1815 Ann (15) was recorded living in Lancasterian School Yard, on the east side of Bartholomew Street, Newbury, with her father James (40), a Shoemaker, her mother Elizabeth (37), her sisters, Hannah (13), Martha (10), Elizabeth (8), Jane (4), Caroline (an infant), her brother Thomas (6), George Stillman (20), Richard Wiggins (16), Joseph Wiggins (25) and Thomas Sargood (21).
Anne married William Osborne on the 25th July 1824 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
(William was a Coal Merchant, he was born c1797, place unknown.)
They had the following children:

In 1841 the family were living in Back Lane, Newbury.
William died aged 49, (cause of death apoplexy) on the 13th October 1846, at Wharf Lane, Newbury.
The 1851 census records Anne (51) as a Coal Merchant, living in Back Lane, Newbury with her children, Sarah (25), a Coal Merchant, William (24), an Assistant to Mother and Clara (14).
In 1861 Anne (61) Formerly a Coal Merchant and her daughters, Sarah (36) and Clara (24), both School Mistresses, were recorded living in St Mary’s Hill, Newbury.
The 1871 census records Anne (71) as a Coal Merchant’s widow, living alone, in Raymond’s Almshouses, Newbury.
Anne died aged 74, (cause of death, liver disease) on the 15th October 1874 at Raymond’s Almshouses, Newbury, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on th
