Thomas, his parents, siblings and early life:
Thomas was born in Hanney, Berkshire. His birth was registered as Tom Owen, in the September quarter 1852, in Wantage. He was the son of Thomas and Ann Owen (nee Hunt) who were married on the 19th April 1840 in Lambourn, Berkshire.
His father Thomas was baptised in 1820 in West Hanney, the son of Lot and Joanna Owen (nee Stephenson) who were married in 1805 in West Hanney.
His mother Ann was baptised in 1818 in Lambourn, Berkshire, the daughter of David and Elizabeth Hunt (nee Rider) who were married in 1818 in Lambourn.
Thomas and Ann also had the following children:

Thomas’ mother Ann died aged 39 in 1857 in West Hanney.
In 1861 Thomas (9) was living in Back Street, West Hanney, with his widowed father Thomas (39), an Agricultural Labourer, his sisters Sarah (13), Fanny (11), Thirza (4) and a lodger, William Owen (50).
In 1871 Thomas (19) was working as a Groom in Basildon, Berkshire
Thomas in later life:
Thomas married Susannah Deacon in 1876 (marriage registered in Wokingham)
(Susanna was baptised in 1849 in Chieveley, Berkshire, the daughter of John and Priscilla Deacon (nee Goodchild) who were married in 1847 in Chieveley).
Thomas and Susannah had the following children:
John Thomas born 19th August, baptised 17th September 1876 in Whitchurch
Albert James born 23rd January 1878 in Crookham, baptised 3rd March 1878 in Thatcham, Berkshire
Richard born 1880 in Long Lane, Berkshire.
Frederick born c1882 in Newbury (died aged 2 in 1884, buried in the NRC on the 2nd May)
Minnie Ada born c1884 in Newbury
Bessie born 17th February 1888 in Newbury
Lizzie born c1891 in Newbury (died 1891, buried in the NRC on the 28th March)
In 1881 Tom (30) was working as a Draper’s Porter, he was living in Speenhamland, Berkshire with Susannah (31) and their sons, John (4), Albert (3) and Richard (1).
The 1891 census records Thomas (40) as a Groom, living at 17 Waterloo Place, Newbury, with Susanna (41), Richard (11) and Minnie (7). Their daughter Bessie (3) was recorded a niece, in the household of her uncle, John Owen (33) and his family, in Shaw Hill, Cold Ash, Thatcham.
In 1901 Thomas (52), a Stableman/Groom, Susannah (53) and their daughter Bessie (13), were living at 3 Prospect Place, Newbury.
The 1911 census records Thomas (59) as an unemployed Agricultural Labourer, living at 1 Gordon Villas, Gordon Road, Newbury with Susannah (60), an Agricultural Labourer and Bessie (23).
Thomas died aged 59 in 1912, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th January (abode at time of death, 1 Gordon Villa's, Kings Road, Newbury)
His daughter Bessie married Gordon Burton in 1915
The Electoral Registers 1929-1938 record Susannah, Bessie and Gordon living at 1 Gordon Villas, Gordon Road, Newbury.
Susannah died aged 88 in 1939, in Newbury.
