Louisa, her parents, siblings and early life:

Louisa was baptised on the 6th July 1828 in Brown Candover, Hampshire the daughter of Philip and Olive Phillips (nee Hall) who were married on the 9th July 1823, in Brown Candover, Hampshire (Philip was from Northington Hampshire)

Philip and Olive also had the following children:

George baptised 3rd October 1824

James baptised 12th March 1826               (All baptisms record Philip as a Bricklayer)

Peter Philip baptised 31st July 1831

Thomas baptised 20th April 1834          

The 1841 census records Philip as a Bricklayer, living in Northington, Hampshire, with Alive (Olive) (45) and their children James (15), Louisa (13), Peter (9) and Thomas (7).

In 1851 Louisa (23) was living in Northington, Hampshire with her father Phillip (52), a Journeyman Bricklayer and her brothers James (25), Peter (19) and Thomas (17).

Louisa in later life:

The 1861 census records Louisa (32) working as a General Servant, for a Robert Tasker (76), a Landed Proprietor, and his wife, in Newburgh House, Weeke, Winchester, Hampshire

In 1871 Louisa (42) was working as a Domestic Servant, in Bartholomew Street, Newbury. She was still working for a Robert Tasker (86), (recorded as a retired Iron Founder) ad his wife.

Louisa married on Christmas Day, 1873.

Dated 1st January 1874

MARRIAGES: Keep-Phillips. Dec. 25, at the Primitive Methodist Chapel, Newbury, by the Rev. E. Alford, Mr. John Keep to Miss Louisa Phillips, both of Newbury.

(John was baptised on the 31st March 1833 in Chieveley, Berkshire, the son of George and Elizabeth Keep (nee Chapman) who were married on the 26th July 1830 in Chieveley, Berkshire. He married Rachel Davis in 1854 (marriage registered in Newbury) Rachel already had a daughter, Mary Jane Davis, born in 1852 before she married John. They also had the following children three William born in 1854, John born in 1864 and Leonard George born c1868. Rachel died in 1870)

The 1881 census records John (48), as a Wharfinger living in Weighbridge, Wharf Road, Newbury with Louisa (52) and John’s sons John (16), a Pupil Teacher and Leonard (13).

Louisa died aged 61, on the 22nd March 1890, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th March

John married again in 1891 (marriage registered in Newbury). His 3rd Wife was a widow, Elizabeth Freeman. He was widowed again in 1910.

John died aged 83 on the 26th April 1916, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with his 2nd wife Louisa, on the 29th April.
