Dorothy Irene Vickers

1920-1936

Dorothy Irene was born in 1920 in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Frederick Thomas and Kate Vickers (nee Curtis) who were married in 1914 (marriage registered in Newbury)

Her father Frederick Thomas was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Henry and Mary Ann Vickers (nee Bailey) who were married in 1874 (marriage registered in Newbury). In 1911 Frederick was recorded working as a Planeing Machinist (Engineering Works).

Her mother Kate was born in 1891 in Newbury, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Ann Curtis (nee Samuels) who were married in 1870, (married registered in Newbury)

Dorothy had two sisters, Kathleen Mary born in 1915 and Hilda Mabel born 1917 (died aged 3 months, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26^th December)

The 1921 census records Dorothy living with her parents Frederick and Kate and her sister Kathleen, in Andover Road, Newbury.

Her mother Kate died aged 30 in the Newbury District Hospital on the 5^th October, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th October 1921.

Her father Frederick died aged 38 in the Newbury District Hospital on the 5^th January 1926, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9^th January.

Dorothy died aged 16 on the 29^th May 1936, she was buried with her parents in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2^nd June.
