Richard (Dick) Empson was born in Burford, Oxon 1853, baptised Dick

1871 he was a letter carrier in Burford aged 18

Marriage to Charlotte Clarke is 1896 in Newbury

He served as a Private for 21 years in the 2nd Dragoon Guards: 2 periods of engagement: 

served in India (8 years) and Egypt (about 6 months) rest of the time at home.  

Attested at Newbridge in 1875 and he was discharged on 30 July 1896.  

Note that both his mother and wife shared the same name of Charlotte.

I have found another soldier - William Nailor - nearly completed his story.
