Berks Burial Index – all above.

She married Joseph Aldridge 4th Nov 1837 – Sarah’s father was William Bowles a bargeman, mother was Judith. Berks marriage Index states Joseph’s father was a Blacksmith

Joseph was probably illiterate as marriage certificate was signed X

His birthplace was Wiltshire 

In 1841census Sarah was living in Hatchet Yard Newbury with Joseph and daughter Eliza aged 2

 FMP – 1851 Census Joseph and Sarah are living in Back Lane Newbury and have 4 daughters and a son. Sarah’s mother Judith Bowles is living with them recorded as a lodger and retired Publican. 

FMP- 1871 census – Living at Hatchet Yard, Sarah aged 54, Joseph is recorded as being 67 ( but this is incorrect) with daughters Eliza 31, Martha 22, and granddaughter Agness M aged 1  ( probably the illegitimate daughter of either Eliza or Martha.

FMP Census 1891 – Sarah is a widow living alone aged 75 at Caroline Place, 3 Northbrook Street. Occupation Upholsterers Work.  Her name is spelled Allridge in this record.
