Fredrick Aldridge

Was 52 when he died in 1919 – buried on 18/3/1919 – he was a farm labourer.

Was living in Hampton Road, West Field Gate Newbury at the time of his death. (Berks Burial Index)

Find my Past – married Harriet Ellen Bartholomew in 1891 who was the eldest daughter of Charles Bartholomew who lived in Highclere – she had been born in Highclere. At the time of her marriage, she resided in Warborough Oxon. (My guess is that she was in service at some grand house)

The 1911 Census had Frederick living with Harriet, now 44 and children Thomas 18, Edward 13 and Frederick Bruce 4 at Bellmount Speen.

In the 1921 Census Harriet was still living in Wart Field Gate Newbury ( I’m presuming this is a transcription error as the map of the area shows West Fields) She was living with her youngest son Frederick Bruce aged 14, he was an errand boy for C. Count Natter and Hosier (Outfitters)

Harriet now 54 and a widow for 2 years was a charwoman at 57 Craven Road.
