George Hearman was baptised on the 6th September 1829 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Thomas and Susanna(h) Hearman (nee Hawkes/Farkes/Hacker) who were married in 1815 in Bradfield, Berkshire.

George’s family:

His mother Susanna(h) was born c1796. She died aged 35 in 1831 and was buried on the 2nd February a St Nicolas Newbury

His father Thomas was an Agricultural Labourer. He was baptised in 1788 in East Ilsley, Berkshire, the son of Susanna Hearman.  He died aged 73 in 1858 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st September. (Surname recorded as Herman on freebmd and Hermon on NRC burial record).

Thomas and Susanna(h) also had the following children:

Elizabeth Hearman baptised in 1815 in Bradfield

William Herman on the 30th March 1818 at St Nicolas Newbury

Eliza Hearman on the 12th March 1828 at St Nicolas Newbury

(His father remarried in 1836 in Newbury. His 2nd wife was Rachel Hine. They had the following two children, Charlotte Herman baptised in 1836 at St Nicolas Church Newbury and William Hearman born in 1840 in Newbury. Thomas was widowed again in 1842).

George in later life:

The 1841 census records George Herman (15) as an Agricultural Labourer, living in Midgham, Berkshire with a Joseph Prior (55) and Sarah Prior (40).

In 1851 George Herman (22) was recorded as a Pauper Agricultural Labourer visiting at the home of Thomas Magor and his family, in Newbury Road, Beedon, Berkshire.

The 1861 census records him aged 30, lodging at the Rokeby Arms, Newtown Road, Newbury. (Surname recorded as Hermon)

George Hermon died aged 34 in 1862, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th February.
