According to census records Elizabeth Turner was born in Bardfield, Essex.

The 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 census records record Elizabeth as a Dressmaker living in Springfield Road, Springfield, Essex.

In 1861 she was living with her mother Sarah (58) and her sisters Sarah (38) and Mary (34) (all Dressmakers).

In 1871 she was living with her sister Sarah (49), a Dressmaker and her mother Sarah (68), a Housekeeper.

In 1881 she was living with her mother Sarah (78), her sister Sarah (59) and her sister Mary Ann (55), all Dressmakers and an Alfred Turner (2).

By 1891 she was living with her sister Sarah (69)

Elizbeth married John Henry Axford (a widower) in 1892 (marriage registered in Rye Sussex).

(Elizabeth was John’s 3rd wife. His 1st wife as Cecilia Elizabeth Tilly, married in 1848, widowed 1878. 2nd wife Hannah Edmonds, married in 1878, widowed 1892)

The 1901 census records Elizabeth and John, living at 4 Larkview Terrace, Boundary Road, Newbury, Berkshire. John was recorded as a Boot Shop Manager. (Surname spelt Oxford on ancestry)

The 1911 census records John (81) as “late a Boot Salesman Manager” living at 23 Connaught Road, Newbury, with Elizabth (73).

John Henry Axford died aged 83 on the 13th August 1911, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th August. (His death has been mistakenly registered as Henry John Axford)

Elizabeth died aged 75 on the 30th January 1913, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd February.
