Henry’s birth was registered in Newbury, Berkshire in the June quarter 1895, mother’s maiden name recorded as Foggertty. He died later the same year and was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd October.

The 1891 census records Charles Alder (30) a Labourer, living in Cromwell Place, Newbury, with his wife aged 28, (recorded as Andrew on ancestry) and their children Charles (2) and John (1) (recorded as Jack).

Margaret (28) and her children Charles (4), John (3) and Frances (6 months), were recorded entering the Workhouse in North Dublin on the 3rd August 1892, they were discharged the following day. (Surname recorded as Elder)

The 1899 North Dublin Workhouse records record Margaret Elder (35), the wife of a Labourer and her children Charles (12), John (9), Frances (7), Thomas (5), James (3) and Margaret (2) entering the Workhouse on the 18th May, this time they stayed for a week, leaving on the 25th May.

The 1901 Ireland census records Charles (13) and John (12) in the Industrial Boarding School, Salt Hill, Galway. Frances (9) and Margaret (3) (recorded as Maggie) were recorded in an Industrial Boarding School in Ballinasloe, Galway. (Surnames recorded as Elder)

The 1911 census records Margaret (50) as a boarder in Tea Lane, Ballinasloe, Galway. She was recorded as married for 24 years, having 8 children altogether but only 6 still living. Her sons Charles (22), a Bootmaker and John (21), a Painter were recorded living in Moher, Ballinasloe. Thomas (17), a Waiter, Domestic Servant, was recorded living in Main Street, Ballinasloe and James (15), a Farm Servant, was recorded living at Grange, Eyrecourt, Galway. (All surnames recorded as Elder)

Charles Elder died age of 35 at the Corbett’s Hotel, Ballinasloe on the 21st June 1924 (cause of death, strangulation, self-inflicted)
