Henry New

1800-1857

Henry was born on the 6^th November 1800, he was baptised on the 16^th November in Ashbury, Berkshire, the son of Phillip and Sarah New (nee Rumsey) who were married on the 12^th January 1798 in Ashbury.

The 1841 census records Henry (40) living at Mount Pleasant, Silver Street, St Giles, Reading, Berkshire with Mary New (30) and Mary Matthews (65), all recorded as Hawkers.

In 1851 Henry (50) was still working as a Hawker, living in St Giles (now in London Road) with his wife Mary (49) (born in Ovington, Hampshire)

Mary died aged 51 in 1854, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31^st October.

Heny died suddenly on the 29^th December 1857, aged 56, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1^st January 1858.
