Charlotte Bryant
1850-1886
Charlotte was born in Reading Berkshire, the daughter of Samuel and Emma Freeman (nee Sharp) who were married on the 3rd October 1843 at St Mary the Minster Reading, Berkshire.
Her father Samuel was a Millwright, he was born on the 18th April 1817 in Newbury, Berkshire, he was baptised on the 14th May at Northcroft Lane Meeting House, Newbury, (Baptist) the son of John and Sarah Freeman (nee May) who were married on the 31st August 1800 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
Her mother Emma was born c1823 in Caversham Oxfordshire, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Sharp (nee Griffiths) who were married on the 13th September 1819 at St Giles, Reading, Berkshire.
Samuel and Emma also had the following children:

In 1851 Charlotte (11 months) was living with her father Samuel (33), mother Emma (26), her brother Samuel Henry (6), and her sister Mary Elizabeth (4), in Kings Road, Reading, Berkshire. Also recorded living in the household was Emma’s sister Charlotte Sharp (28).
The 1861 census records Charlotte (12) living in West Mills, Newbury, with her parents and siblings, Mary (15), John (9), Louisa (6), Fanny (3) and Caroline (1).
The 1871 census records Charlotte (21) as a Draper’s Assistant, living in London Street, St Giles, Reading.

Charlotte and James had the following children:

In 1881 James (26), Charlotte (30), May (3), John (1) and Charlotte’s sister Caroline Freeman (21), a Draper’s Assistant, were living at 9 Norman Road, Hastings, Sussex.
Charlotte died aged 36 on the 26th April 1886 in Wood Green, her body was brought to Newbury and she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30th April.
Also buried with Charlotte were her father Samuel Freeman (buried 1906), her mother Emma Freeman (buried 1917), her brother John Freeman (buried 1879), her sister Caroline Offer (buried 1929) her brother Samuel Henry Freeman (buried (1920), his widow Mary Anna Freeman (buried 1928) and her niece Fanny Louisa Wood (buried 1896, daughter of her sister Louisa).
James remarried in 1887 in Edmonton, his 2nd wife was Harriet Mackeith.
