Peter was baptised on the 31st July 1831 at St Gregory, Welford, Berkshire the son of William and Maria(h) Perris (nee Titford) who were married on the 12th October 1820 at St Mary, Kintbury, Berkshire. (William was from Boxford and was a widower)

His father William Perriss was baptised on the 1st February 1767 at Welford, Berkshire, the son of Frank and Sarah Perriss (nee Stockbridge) who were married on the 18th October 1758 at St Gregory, Welford. William’s first wife was Hannah Hays, they were married on the 22nd December 1788 in Welford. They had the following children baptised in Welford, William, 4th June 1789, Mary, 28th February 1790 and Elizabeth, 4th May 1794. Hannah died in 1812, she was buried on the 27th December at St Gregory, Welford. William died aged 85 in 1849, he was buried on the 21st October at St Gregory, Welford.

According to the 1851 census Peter’s mother Maria(h) was born c1792 in Kintbury. She died aged 71 in 1863 (death registered in Abingdon).

Peter’s full siblings were:

William 12th May 1822

Hannah 22nd February 1824

Elizabeth 21st April 1827

Thomas 24th January 1830

The 1841 census records Peter (10) (recorded as Letter Perri on ancestry) living in Hoe Benham, Berkshire, with his father William Perris (70), an Agricultural Labourer, his mother Marah Perris (50), his siblings Hannah Perris (15) and Thomas Perris (11) and a Sofia Sparkes (75).

The 1851 census records Peter as an Agricultural Labourer living at Benham Farm, Hoe Benham. Berkshire.

Peter married Emma Bradley (born c1835 in Newbury) in 1856 (marriage registered in Newbury), they had two children:

 John born in 1856 (died aged 3 months, buried at Welford St Gregory on the 22nd March 1857)

Susan born 1858 (died 1858, buried on the 28th October at St Mary the Virgin Speen).

Peter died aged 29 in 1861 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 5th January. (Surname recorded as Pearce in the NRC Company Accounts Book)

The 1861 census records Emma living at Lamb and Flag Yard, Speenhamland with her parents William and Susannah Bradley and her siblings Hannah (23), Sarah (18), Sylvia (13), (recorded as Silvena) William (11), George (8), Eliza (13) and her niece, Ruth (3).

Emma remarried in 1862, her 2nd husband was John Cooper (born c1841 in Basildon Berkshire) they had one daughter, Sophia born in 1862.

Emma died aged 29 in 1866, she was buried on the 15th July at St Mary the Virgin Speen.
