Peter Brindley  Was born in 1884 to James and Rachel nee Houey. 

n 1891 they were living at Red House public house Hampton Rd with sisters Eliza born 1873 and rose born 1879.

revious census show four older sisters. Martha born 1861. Emily born 1866. Harriet born 1869. Also an older brother james born 1869.

n 1901 they are living in Hampton Rd and his father has died. Rose is still living at the same house with her son Reginald and Peter is shown as a fishmonger

he 1903 Newbury weekly news newspaper reports show that Peter aged 19 has begun to get into minor acts of defiance against authority. " 10/2/1903 Peter a fishhawk are charged with driving a horse and cart without a light. He failed to appear in court."

"17/2/1903 Peter is charged with using obscene language. He failed to appear."

The judge observed that failing to appear at court was becoming prevalent among the lower classes

Peter was fined 5s and 13s costs

"26/2/1903 Peter refused to leave the Catherine wheel public house when requested. Fined 19s 6d"

"12/4/1903 created a noise and disturbance and fined £5 and bound over to keep the peace for six months"

However within a couple of years his fortunes had changed. On Boxing Day 1905 Peter was hailed "the hero" as he scored four goals in Newbury's 9 - 2 win over Fulham Old Town and in 1907 he scored two goals in Newbury's 4 - 3 win over Iolanthe

unfortunately he was back in court in March 1909 after allowing in a horse and cart astray. He failed to appear in court and was fined 10s

Peter died December 1910 aged 27
