Ellen Brindley was born Ellen Benson in 1863 in Eastbury Lambourne to Betsy an unmarried mother.

In 1991 she is shown as living in Eastbuy with her grandparents Charles and Amy Benson, her unmarried mother Betsy, and uncle George aged 13.

In 1881 she is a live-in domestic servant for Mr and Mrs Frith in westfields Newbury

In 1884 she married James Brindley a fish curer.   Her children where Stanley born in 1892,  Leslie Douglas born 1895, Reginald Gorden born 1899, Albert Edward born 1903  Overall she had 6 sons.

in 1901 she is living in bone lane and elder sons are working with their father James in the fish business. In 1911 she is living in hybels greenham and they are still employed in the fish business.

In 1936 Ellen died at mill lane Newbury.

She is buried with james who died 17 12 1941 aged 79; Harry 1 4 1879 aged 11 months. There is another son Leslie Douglas also bared in Newtown Rd cemetery but has no grave marker
