Annie Louisa was born on the 16th January 1886 in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. She was baptised on the 14th March 1886 in Batcombe, Somerset, the daughter of Sidney James and Mary Ann White (nee Stock) who were married in 1885 in Shepton Mallet.

Sidney James and Mary Ann also had the following children:

Mabel Kate 30th May 1887

Sidney John 5th December 1888

Florence May 15th September 1894

Herbert Henry 24th August 1897 (died ages 1)

In 1891 Annie (5) was recorded living in Bowlish, Croscombe, Somerset, with her parents Sidney (30) a General Labourer and Mary (28), her sister Mabel (3) and her brother Sidney (2).

In 1901 Annie (15) was working as a General Domestic Servant for an Elizabeth A Freeman (69) at 8 Paul Street, Shepton Mallet.

Annie married in 1907.

(John William Hazell was born in 1882 in Newbury, the son of Albert and Julia Hannah Hazell (nee Parker) who were married on the 3rd February 1878 at St Nicolas Church Newbury)

John and Annie had the following children:

Phyllis Rose born 22nd August 1908 in Chipping Sodbury

Twins: Dorothy Annie and Albert Sidney John born 1st Dec 1910 in Chipping Sodbury (Albert died aged 12 days)

Edward Albert born 3rd May 1913 in Newbury

And a daughter born in 1920 in Newbury

 

The 1911 census records John (28) as a Railway Checker, living in Blanchards Brook, Old Sodbury with Annie (25), their two daughters, Phyllis (2) and Dorothy (4 months) and a boarder.

By 1920 the family were living in Railway Road, Newbury.

John died aged 38 on the 31st May 1921 at Knights Farm, Bagnor, Newbury, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th June.

The 1939 Register records Annie living at 2 Link Road, Newbury. She continued to live in Link Road until at least 1959. By 1960 she was living at 10 Rowan Drive, Newbury.

Annie died aged 77 on the 30th March 1963, she was laid to rest with her husband John, on the 3rd April.
