Mary Wright c.  1818-1901

Mary was born in Masham Yorkshire, she was baptised in 1819, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Mudd.
Thomas and Mary also had the following children baptised in Masham:

In 1851 Mary (32) was working as a Housekeeper in Leatherhead, Surrey, for the Colvin family.


She married in 1854

(William Wright was baptised on the 30th March 1806 in Great Bedwyn, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Wright (nee Plumb) who were married in Great Bedwyn on the 12th November 1795)


William and Mary had a son Thomas born c1855 in Kintbury


The 1861 census records Mary (41) living in Lone Barn, Kintbury with her husband Wiliam (54) a Farm Bailiff, her step-daughter Fanny (15) and her son Thomas (6).
The 1871 census records William (62) as a Farmer of 155 acres employing 3 men, living at Barton Farm, Kintbury with Mary (51) and their son Thomas (16).
The 1881 census records Mary (61) and William (74) still living in Kintbury, farming 106 acres employing 2 men and 1 boy.
William died aged 82 in 1890. The 1891 census records Mary (76) as a Retired Farmer, lodging at Roseberry Place Greenham
The 1901 census records her as a widow, aged 81,boarding in London Road, Newbury.

Mary died aged 83 in 1901, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2" November.
