Martha Myhill was born in Kingsclere Hampshire the daughter of Dennis and Hannah Myhill (nee Rolfe) who were married in Kingsclere in 1794.

Martha’s known siblings, baptised in Kingsclere were:

George 1798

Charles 1799

Rebecca 1802

Martha married Joseph Walker (a Boot and Shoemaker) on the 8th June 1839 at St George Camberwell Surrey.

They had the following children:

Martha born 1839 in Newington (possible death aged 9 in 1849 in Newbury)

Hannah 1842 in Lambeth

Joseph 1845 in Lambeth

Elizabeth 1849 in Newbury

Eliza Jane 1853 in Newbury

The 1841 census records Joseph (26), Martha (27) and their daughter Martha (19 months) living in Townsend Street, St George, Southwark.

By 1851 Joseph (36), Martha (36) and their children Hannah (8) and Joseph (5) were living in Northcroft Lane, Newbury.

The 1861 census records Joseph (46) as a Bootmaker employing 3 boys. He was living in Nursery Garden Cottage, Old Road, Newbury with Martha (46) and their children Hannah (18), Joseph (15), Elizabeth (11) and Eliza Jane (7).

In 1871 Joseph (56), Martha (56) and their children Hannah (28), Joseph (25), Elizabeth (21) and Eliza (17) were living at 103 Northbrook Street, Newbury.

Martha died aged 64 on the 12th November 1878, she was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th November.

In 1881 Joseph (66) was recorded as Formerly a Boot Maker, living alone in West Mills, Newbury

The 1891 census records him aged 76 living on his own means in Enborne Road, Newbury.

He died aged 81on the 21st July 1896 and was buried in a private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th July.
