Ann Salter
c1813-1898
Eliza Ann (aka Ann) Brown was baptised in 1813 in Ashmansworth, Hampshire, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Brown.
She married (as Ann Brown) George Salter on the 15th September 1834 at St Mary, Greenham, Berkshire.

Sarah Ann baptised 15th November 1835 at St Nicolas Newbury
George born c1839 in Greenham
Henry baptised 17th April 1842 in Greenham
James born c1850
In 1841 George (25) was recorded as a Corn Porter, living in Golding’s Yard, Greenham with Ann (25) and their children Sarah (5) and George (2)
The 1851 census records George (39) as a Pauper/Labourer, he was still living in Golding’s Yard, Greenham, with Eliza Ann (38) a Charwoman and their children, George (12), Henry (8) and James (1).
In 1861 George (49) was recorded as a Labourer, living in Greenham with Eliza Ann (48) and their children Sarah Ann (25), Henry (18) and James (11).
George died aged 50 in 1862.
The 1871 census records Ann (60) as a Laundress, living alone in Railway Cottages, Greenham.
In 1881 Ann (69) was recorded as Formerly a Cook, living in Railway Cottages, Greenham. Also recorded living with her was her widowed son James (32), a General Labourer and her grandchildren James Salter (9) and Mary Salter (7).
In 1891 Ann (78) was recorded Living On Own Means in Geenham, her grandson James (19), a General Labourer was recorded living with her.
Ann died aged 85 on the 17th February 1898 in the Newbury Workhouse, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st February.
