Percy Edward Peirce
He was born in 1898 in Chichester, Sussex, the second son of Charles Peirce, a Bootmaker/Repairer, and Elizabeth (nee Russell). He grew up in Tunbridge Wells with this elder brother William Alfred and his sisters Florence May and Annie Elizabeth. He followed his father's trade and became a Boot Repairer (Journeyman) and he died aged 19 years from "Tubercular Disease of the Lung" on 9th June 1917 at 2 Salcombe Villas, Salcombe Road, Newbury, his father being present at his death.
He was buried on 13 June 1917. His brother William Alfred Peirce was killed in action in France on 15 September 1916 and his name is remembered on his brother's gravestone as well as on the Newbury Town War Memorial and on the Thiepval Memorial to The Missing of The Somme.
