Kate Legg

1872-1873

Kate was born in Newbury Berkshire the daughter of William Legg (1837-1915) and his 1^st wife Eliza(beth) Legg (nee Slade) (1847-1874) who were married in 1866 (marriage registered in Newbury).

Kate’s siblings were:

Ernest William 1867

Rosa Jane 1868 (died aged 13 in 1881, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31^st December)

Emily 1870 (died aged 3 in 1873, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28^th April)

Leah 1871

Her father was recorded as a Corn Porter in 1871, a General Labourer/Greenwich Pensioner in 1881, a General Labourer in 1891 and a Naval Pensioner in 1901 and 1911.

The family were recorded living at 9 Lewis’s Buildings, Bartholomew Street, Newbury in 1871, Ashdown Court Newbury in 1881 and Percy Place, Bartholomew Street, Newbury in 1891.

Kate died aged 3 months in 1873, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18^th February.
