Minnie Louisa Nash (1889 —1923)

Minnie Louisa Hill was born in 1891 in High Wycombe the daughter of Frank and Mary Ann, nee Tranter, Hill. In the 1891 census Minnie was living at 37 Leominster Road in High Wycombe with her parents, brother Arthur aged 7 and sister Beatrice aged 2. Frank was recorded as a French polisher.
with her parents, brother Arthur aged 17 and sister Beatrice aged 14. Frank was recorded as a Ten years later in the 1901 census Minnie was recorded at 112 Oxford Road in in High Wycombe commercial traveller and Arthur an apprentice chair maker.
Frank and Mary moved to Newbury in 1910 and Minnie was recorded at the Three Tuns in High Wycombe High Street in the 1911 census along with her brother Arthur, his wife Lily Matilda and various boarders and servants. Arthur was a licensed victualler and Lily was assisting in the business.
Minnie married George William Nash on 23 June 1912 at St John in Newbury. George was born circa 1879 in Islington. He was recorded with Minnie at the Three Tuns in High Wycombe in the 1911 census and his occupation was a comedian. He was just about to start a three month summer season at Hoylake and West Kirby after the wedding.
George and Minnie were recorded at Berries Bank in Greenham Road in the 1921 and 1922 electoral registers.

Early in 1923 Minnie started suffering from a serious ailment in the head. She had an operation at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone. It was initially successful but then Minnie had a relapse and died 10 April 1923 at the hospital. A full report appeared in the Newbury Weekly News dated 19 April 1923. Minnie was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 16 April 1923.
George moved away from Newbury after Minnie's death and he probably died in Folkestone in 1957.


Minnie's parents were buried at Newtown Road Cemetery, her father Frank Hill on 1 December 1934 and her mother Mary Ann Hill on 10 February 1951. Her sister Beatrice Jones was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 31 March 1953.
