William John Bellinger

William John was born in Newbury the son of William and Ellen Jane Bellinger (nee Tidbury) who were married in 1873 (marriage registered in Newbury).
William John died aged 2 on the 23rd December 1881, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th December (death registered as William John, recorded as John William on the burial register).
His father William was born in 1849 in Enborne, Berkshire, the son of John and Sarah Bellinger (nee Bolsher) who were married in 1840 (marriage registered in Newbury). He died aged 67 in 1917 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23rd January.
His mother Ellen Jane was born in 1850 (birth registered in Kingsclere, no mother’s maiden name recorded). She died aged 59 in 1910 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th March.

William was recorded working as a Fogger in 1881, (Fogger meaning: a generic term for a travelling merchant, or an agricultural worker who fed cattle whilst working alongside Milkers. May also be an abbreviation of Pettifogger, an attorney or lawyer who handled cash or worked on petty cases), a Gas Stoker in 1891 and 1901 and a Gas Laourer for the Borough Council in 1911.
The family were living at Wash Farm Cottages, Wash Road, Newbury in 1881, 3 New Square, Newbury in 1891 and Ellerslie Villas, York Road, Newbury in 1901. By 1910 they were living at 4 Ward’s Buildings, Stroud Green, Newbury.
