Evelyn Maud was born in Newbury the youngest of thirteen children. Her parents were George and Elizabeth Bellinger (nee Wright) who were married in 1879 in Newbury.

 

Her mother Elizabeth was born in 1859 the daughter of John and Livinia Wright (nee Challis) who married in 1848 in Newbury.

 

Her father George was a Bricklayer. He was born in 1859 in Enborne, Berkshire, the son of John and Sarah Bellinger (nee Hazell) who were married in 1859 (marriage registered in Newbury)

 

Evelyn’s siblings were:

Alice Mary born 1878 (born Alice Mary Wright, before her parents married (father unknown))

George Richard Frederick born c1880

Annie Livinia born c1882

John born 1884

Beatrice born 1886 (died aged 4 in 1890, buried in the NRC on the 12th November)

Clara Jane born1887

Twins: Rose and Daisy born 1889 (Daisy died aged 4 months, buried in the NRC on the 7th June 1889)

William Cornelius born 1892 (died aged 25 on the 31st May 1916 at the Battle of Jutland aboard HMS Queen Mary

Albert Edward born 1893

Ellen Elizabeth born 1896

Francis Victor born 1897

 

The family were living in Mayor’s Lane Newbury in 1891, and 16 Adey’s Buildings, Stroud Green, Newbury in 1901

 

Evelyn died aged 15 months in 1901, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 20th May

 

Her mother Elizabeth died aged 50 on the 8th June 1909, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th June.

 

Her father George was still living in Adey’s Buildings in 1911.

He went on to marry his widowed sister-in-law Annie Livinia Preston (nee Wright, Elizabeth’s sister) in 1912.

 

George died aged 72 on the 9th August 1932, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th August. At the time of his death her was living at 1 Arthur Road Newbury.

 

Annie Livinia died aged 72 on the 12th February 1934, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th February. She was still living at 1 Arthur Road at the time of her death.
