Albert was born in Newbury Berkshire, he was baptised on the 16th September 1861 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the son of William and Emma Skinner (nee Kemp) who were married in 1850 (marriage registered in Newbury. Emma was recorded as Jane when she married)

William and Emma also had the following children:

Thomas Frederick born 1851 (died 1851)

Charles born c1852

James William born 1854

Peter born 1862 (died 1863, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 20th March)

 

Albert’s father William was born c1817 in Newbury. He died aged 51 in 1868 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th December.

His mother Emma Jane was baptised on the 8th November 1830 in Winterbourne Berkshire the daughter of Joseph and Dinah/Diannah Kemp (nee Collemore) who were married in Chieveley on the 7th May 1814. She died aged 41 in 1872 and was laid to rest on the 22nd January at Greenham St Mary.

In 1841 his father William (20) a Private in the Army, was recorded living in Cheap Street, Newbury. His mother Emma (10) was recorded living with her parents in Chieveley.

In 1851 William (33) was recorded as a Pensioner, 76th Regiment, living in a cottage in Chieveley with his wife Emma (21), his in-laws Joseph Kemp (67) a Pauper/Agricultural Labourer and Diannah Kemp (58) and his sister-in-law Ellen Kemp (16).

The 1861 census records William (44) as a Hawker of Crockery, living at 3 Lewis Buildings, Northcroft Lane, Newbury with Emma (30), Charles (8) and William (6) (James William).

Albert died aged 1 month, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th September 1861
