Thomas Naylor

Thomas Nailer was baptised on the 29th August 1790 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the son of Thomas (1764-1850) and Elizabeth (c1771-1828) Nailor (nee Bird) who were married on the 1st February 1790 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

Thomas married (surname spelt Naylor) Ann Clements on the 21st March 1821 at St Mary the Virgin Speen. (Ann was born in Colthrop Thatcham she was baptised on the 9th July 1786 in Thatcham the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Clements (nee Emmory) who were married on the 20th March 1786 at St Mary Thatcham).

In 1841 Thomas Naylor (50), was recorded as a Glazier, living in West Mills, Newbury with his wife Ann (50), and their children, Thomas (15), a Carpenter, Sarah (14), Hannah (9) and Louisa (7).
The 1851 census again records Thomas Naylor (62) as a Glazier, living in West Mills. Also recorded in the household were Ann (63) and his daughter Sarah (23), a Dressmaker.
Thomas Naylor died aged 62 in 1851, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st October.
In 1861 Ann (76) and her daughter Sarah (31) were recorded living in Bartholomew Almshouses, Newbury Ann was recorded as Formerly Painter’s Widow and Sarah was recorded as a Dressmaker.
Ann Nailor died in 1863 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27th January.
