James Langton
c1836-1907
James was born in Newbury, his parents were William & Hannah Langton (nee Newport) who married in Speen in 1832.
William was born c1791 in Newbury and was a Bricklayer. He was a widower when he married Hannah. (1st wife Mary Brown, married in 1811 in Kingsclere). He died aged 82 on the 20th February 1873 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th February.
Hannah was born c1792 in Enborne, she died in 1856 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th July.
The family lived in St Mary’s Hill Newbury.
Like his father, James was also a Bricklayer, he married Emily Copes (born c1836 in Reading) in Newbury in 1860.
According to the 1911 census James and Emily had ten children (only the following 9 children found).

James, Emily and their children also lived in St Mary’s Hill, Newbury until at least 1871 but by 1881 they were living in Sackville Place. By 1907 they had moved to The Folly, Pyle Hill, Newbury.
James died aged 72 on the 7th November 1907, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 11th November.
His widow Emily died aged 83 on the 20th October 1921, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th October.
Their children Edward, Drusilla, Rose Hannah, Blanche, Georgina and Agnes Flora were also buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery.
Edward was buried on the 2nd April 1862
Drusilla was buried on the 19th January 1867
Rose Hannah was buried on the 10th December 1868
Georgina was buried on the 11th November 1878
Blanche was buried on the 30th September 1907
Agnes Flora was buried on the 27th February 1929
