John Hutchins

John Hutchins was born 14 December 1832 at Ashford Hill & baptised 14 April 1833 at St Mary, Kingsclere.

John married Harriet Hughes on 11 October 1856 at St Paul, Ashford Hill.
Harriet was born Ram Alley & baptised 27 January 1833 at St Mary, Kingsclere.

In the 1861 census John, Harriet & three children were living at Little Hill End, Sherborne St John, John being a carter.

In 1871 John, Harriet & four children were living in Summerhurst, Kingsclere Woodlands and John was a farm labourer.

In 1881 & 1891 John & Harriet were living in Kingsclere (Newbury Road in 1881), John being a farm servant & general labourer respectively.

In 1881 there were three children, a grand daughter & a boarder but in 1891 just a boarder living with them.

Harriet was buried 20 October 1899 at St Paul, Ashford Hill & they were living at Holdrup Hill at that time.

In the 1901 census John was living with his son Charles & his family at Thornford, Thatcham, still listed as a farm labourer.

In 1911 John was living by himself at Maybush Cottages, Headley and he was still a farm labourer.

John was then buried 8 August 1912 at Newtown Road, having died at the Workhouse Infirmary.
