Emily Langton

c1836-1921

Emily Copes was born c1836 in Reading Berkshire she married James Langton (a Bricklayer, born c1836 in Newbury) in Newbury in 1860.

According to the 1911 census James and Emily had ten children (only the following 9 children found).

Gertrude born 1864

Drusilla born 1866-1867

Rose Hannah born 1868-1868

Blanche born 1871-1907

Agnes Flora born 1872-1929

Amy Letitia born 1874

Georgina born 1876-1878

James, Emily and their children lived in St Mary’s Hill, Newbury until at least 1871 but by 1881 they were living in Sackville Place. By 1907 they had moved to The Folly Pyle Hill Newbury.

Emily’s husband died aged 72 on the 7^th November 1907, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 11^th November.

Emily died aged 83 on the 20^th October 1921, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25^th October.

Their children Edward, Drusilla, Rose Hannah, Georgina, Blanche and Agnes Flora were also buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery.

Edward was buried on the 2^nd April 1862

Drusilla was buried on the 19^th January 1867

Rose Hannah was buried on the 10^th December 1868

Georgina was buried on the 11^th November 1878

Blanche was buried on the 30^th September 1907

Agnes Flora was buried on the 27^th February 1929
